DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, also known as Emideltide) is a nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of sleeping rabbits. DSIP is studied in sleep research for its role in non-REM sleep regulation, stress hormone modulation, and circadian rhythm entrainment in animal models. The peptide's short half-life and blood-brain barrier penetration characteristics make it an interesting subject for peptide delivery research. DSIP was removed from FDA Category 2 restriction in April 2026 as part of the 12-peptide reclassification. Research-grade DSIP is supplied as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution in behavioral neuroscience and sleep physiology studies.
